Do you hold your breath when a 500 pound client sits in one of your 250 pound capacity chairs?
Yes. Office Managers in Johnson City TN, Kingsport TN and Bristol TN/VA can breathe easier if they have at least one “bariatric” chair in their waiting room.
A bariatric chair is made for your extra large patients.
Wider between the arms: 30”, 36” or 42” wide
Larger weight capacity: 750 to 1,500 lbs
Heavy duty construction.
Especially designed to be easier to get in and out of.
I had another excellent conversation with Paul Morlock.
Several office managers sent in questions about the economy and how it related to their employees. Some wondered if there was a trend of employees to work harder and to be more responsible since lay-offs were more likely to happen.
You may be surprised at the answer.

Check out this 13 minute talk with Paul Morlock, Vice President of Human Resources, as we discuss the most stressful things an Office Manager has to face.

Throughout my day, I meet and talk with office managers all over the Tri-Cities area (Johnson City and Kingsport, Tennessee and Bristol and Marion, Virginia). What they tell me is that in today’s economic environment; they are being asked to wear many more hats. One of the most stressful hats they have to put on is that of Human Resources Director. Here is an audio interview I did with Paul Morlock. Paul is Vice President Human Resources and Healthcare Support Services at Stanly Regional Medical Center in North Carolina. He answers the top three questions asked by office managers. The problem: This small but rapidly growing doctor’s office needed more space.
The answer: Expand Vertically!
By making use of the vertical space over and existing work counter, they gained 22 feet of storage without losing an inch of floor space.
Along with the massive increase is storage for charts, binders and supplies, they also gained a wall long tackboard and task lights.
These task lights are located exactly where the work is done. They eliminate the head shadow that falls on your main work area.
And the cabinets really look good. Never mind what my pictures show, they really do look good. The office staff picked out a light gray fabric for the cabinet fronts and the tackboards.
This light gray tone doesn’t overpower the small office. The cabinets don’t intrude into the space. They almost receed into the distance.
Yes, it is time to think ahead to 2008 and your new year labels.
For those of you not familiar with year labels, these are colored labels that you attach to paper folders.
These colored labels allow you to know at a glance what year information was last filed in that folder.
“So what !”  you may be saying.Â
Well if you have lots of folders and not much space. you can easily pull out all of the old and inactive folders to store or destroy.
Instead of taking hours (if you ever do it) you just take a few minutes to “at a glance” recognize folders with old information. Take these folders out of your file system.
This keeps your  filing system current.
You decide what current is. It may be based on space linitations of company or government regulations.
And it is easy to  tell if you have pulled out all of the “old” files or if you have mistakenly pulled out a current file just by seeing the difference in colors of the labels.
Oh, didn’t I mention that you have to get new labels with a different color each year.Â
No problem. We have lots to choose from.  See this page with 38 different labels to choose from: 2008 Year Labels
